She killed. They made mistakes. Do they deserve to die? No. Humans have taken into their own hands the big decision of when should a person die. If a person commits a homicide, or causes an infringement to the law that is severe, no matter what it is, they don’t deserve to be killed. It is a violation to human rights because the simplest and most basic right granted to humans is to live. This right is being denied. If a person gets killed for murder, they are getting punished in a way not different from the crime they committed. Death penalty is an unjust punishment that shouldn’t be permitted. No matter how bad a person is, they should be allowed to live because is a right that all humans have. Is not for a simple human to judge and decide the fate of another, even worse, deny another human the right to live.

He robbed. She killed. They deserve to die. How can people guarantee that the criminal won’t get out from jail and keep threatening the safety of others ? If Sadam Hussein was still alive, just put in jail, he could easily get out and inflict more terror on his people and keep on destroying Mr. Bush’s source of petroleum. Therefore, he deserves to die, to make sure we are safe from his nuclear weapons of massive destruction and his unfair treatment to his people. He was a threat so the most efficient way to enforce safety is to kill him. Therefore, death penalty should be legal because it is the most efficient way to increase safety and make criminals pay for causing an infringement to the law.
Many countries have adopted a type of punishment that has sparked intense controversy among any and every educated person that has heard about it: the death penalty. The death penalty is very effective in several ways: for one, people tend to not do things that would merit death so often for the simple fear of it. Second, it is a cost-efficient alternative to maintaining that person for however long they live in a cell, providing food and whatever else. Rather than spending thousands of dollars of taxpayer’s money on that, they could use a couple-dollar shot that would put the patient down in a matter of minutes. Perhaps the greatest benefit it has is the guaranteed safety of the public from that one individual. Sometimes, the person killed would be the leader and his followers would try to defend him, and that’s a different case. If it were just the one person, and he were dead, what more harm could he do? So the death penalty is effective because it is scary, cheap, and 100% reliable.

On the other hand, it is often regarded as inhumane; deliberate, “justified” murder. Not surprisingly, the vast majority of people are, if not completely against, uneasy with the idea of taking someone’s life. Even if the person has committed heinous, unforgivable crimes, isn’t there even a small chance that, given the chance, he might change? Religion is a huge influence on people when considering such things. Even though the public is afraid of these people, they have a hard time imagining how someone could get out of a high-security prison like Guantanamo or something. And in reality, they are next to positively true: it would be very hard to get out of a place like that. Therefore, putting criminals in a prison instead of taking a life can be like a relieving alternative.
Coffin nails. A government’s job is to act in the best interest of its citizens—in this case, the best interest being health.

A children who has been raised playing violent video games will not behave in the same way as one who hasn’t. These virtual activities expose the person to a new whole dimension of action, blood and death. There are usually not only 50 different people one has to kill to move to the next level, but 50 different ways of killing them. By this, these video games not only incite violence but also educate the player in the art of killing, giving even the most innocent and ignorant person new ideas of how to massacre a whole city. Violent video games also make people accustomed to violence, which alters their behavior. A gun may no longer be a dangerous tool for a person who “plays” with weapons twenty times as big, and killing somebody to steal something from them might be considered normal, since people in these games are killed just for being in the way of the character. This indifference towards violence, as well as the ideas brought to the consumer by the games, might lead people to underestimate danger and forget about their values. Violent video games will then alter a person’s behavior physically and psychologically.

The statement that violent video games alter a person’s behavior is nothing but a legend. Violence has been present in the lives of children with or without video games. Stories of battles and the death of the enemy have always been told, and during recess boys imitated soldiers and acted out wars. Video games are not that different from these activities. Violent video games can also be a way for people to channel their feelings, or let them out. Violence may help one to free impulses in a manner that won’t harm them or anybody else. In addition, most violent games have an unreal connotation. They might be set in medieval or past ages, in a fantastic world, or even have characters different from humans. The only circumstance over which it may be taught is for historic purposes; however not as any TRUE or REAL way. This would go against freedom of religion. The school is forcing me to believe that the world was created by some deity, some religious figure. When it turn it was drafted by a set of infatuated men who had never been willing to accept the truth behind the sciences. What if I am an atheist? Why should I be taught that the world was created by some entity that I do not even agree or profess? If a state possesses freedom of religion, and freedom of thought then it cannot on any grounds force me to follow any kind of specified belief that they seek to spread, that would go against the rights that they are trying to give me, kind of shrewd business that is. Any attempt by any teacher to suppress the evolutionary theory and try to engrain this idea on my head violates the principles of respect. The only way to assure that something like the first amendment truly exists is to put aside creationism and teach the evolutionary theory, a theory that does not go around trying to gain converts, a theory purely supported by evidence and not by the ideas of some men 1600 years ago.

Creationism should be taught in public schools. Whatever the most common religion is on the state it should teach its form of creationism. Little by little the youth is losing interest in religion. The only way to stop people from becoming atheists, agnostics, people without direction is to always keep them aware that god exists. Keep them aware that God made this world for all of us let them know that he is there. The wholly books have been able to drive us to success, allowed us to grow and flourish.

Creationism should not be taught in school because it is a subject that is too controversial. There are many people who want their children to learn about the beginning of time the way the Bible teaches it: God made the world in 7 days. Simultaneously, there are many people who want their children to learn evolution and more scientific approach. Not only is this a very touchy subject, creationism is not supported by science. Many scientists believe that it is impossible for the Earth to have reached it current stage in a weeks time. Also, evolution has been scientifically proven over and over again. If children are to learn about how the Earth was created, it needs to be taught with the most scientific and evidence based approach. Schools cannot try to please only one group of people (mainly certain Christians) at the risk of misinforming millions of children.

Creationism should be taught in school because that is the way the Earth was created. The Bible clearly states “ And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made”. That work was the Earth and mankind. The Bible is the spiritual light that millions of people follow and it is the only source of truth on Earth. Its contents need to be taught so that children will be enlightened. Although many parents do not want their children to be taught creationism, what are teachers supposed to answer when a child asks how the world started? Are they to give a false answer about a big bang or are they to know the truth?
Today, everything we do depends on computers whether it is information for an assignment or communicating with our friends. Some people even need computers to check their bank accounts, shopping, and working at home. Computers are very effective devices, however, they consume most of our time. They have become an addiction. Some students can’t do their work without Internet’s advice. Some schools require computers since they have come to the conclusion that they are essential in a student’s life. Without computers classes would move slower, and less material would be given. But computers are not only needed for school or work, they are source to have fun for many. Computer games or social networks take many of our time and without them we constantly are consumed by boredom.

However, we are not completely dependent on computers. People today still attend to appointments, school, or some other activities. They still interact with other people in other ways other than just messenger or facebook chat. Also they are still other sources to get information, such as, books. Although books are not as used today as computers they are still there and many people still attend to libraries to look for them. A single keyword typed on Google gives millions of results. An email sent to dozens of people replaces a meeting. But does all of this technology help or hurt us?

Computers are essential to our life today. The purpose of technology is to make our lives easier, and computers certainly do that. We can play “card” games, hear our grandmother’s voice through Skype, and pay bills, all from the comfort of our desk chairs (or sofas, dining chairs, or beds for that matter). For a research paper, one has only to open his or her computer and do a quick Google search to find sources. In the old days, this would have involved trips to the library and pawing through encyclopedias. By being able to do so much on our computers, we save time and effort. Computers are also vital to our social life. We keep in touch with faraway friends on Facebook, follow our favorite celebrities on Twitter, and email our friends, asking about the physics homework. Without the marvelous invention of the computer, we would be isolated and inefficient.

Computers started out with good intentions, but have become a problem. We hardly ever move anymore! Why would you, if you could accomplish everything you want sitting, staring at your computer screen? If computers were taken away, even for just a day, we would flounder about, confused and lost. We would be unable to do work, unable to get in touch with people, and unable to access the piles of information stored on our computers. In fact, that has become a new way for terrorists to harm us: take out our computers, and we’re putty in their hands. Our defense systems are computers, a good chunk of our air force, and many other organizations. Also, if some unsavory character gets ahold of your computer, they’ve basically got your life. Since most of us save our passwords to websites, they would already be logged in at our banks, preferred hotels, and more. They could access our credit card information, our schedule, even our social security number in some cases. Our society depends far too much on computers.
Is the death penalty effective?

Death Penalty is extremely efficient and should be used more often to face the criminals we are dealing with nowadays. In the world we live in people have lost all fear and respect towards authority. In the old times, people were afraid of committing crimes because of the harsh measures authority would take. Now in many cases like for example in Costa Rica someone who just assaulted and beat up a women will go to jail, just to be released the next day. A person guilty of taking 10 lives can go to jail for around 30 years maximum. A person who takes a life knowing what they were doing should pay with their life too, it’s only fair, an eye for an eye. Besides once criminals realize that they could pay the price with their life if they commit a crime there will be a greater fear towards authority and as we all know fear equals respect. This is why the death penalty is an effective method; it sets clear the intentions, and power of authority and it deals with the criminal in a quick way, and the state doesn’t even have to spend money on keeping such criminals alive.

Death Penalty is an unjust and inefficient way of dealing with Criminals. It is unjust because it can take away the life of an innocent person. In many cases where the death penalty was applied it was later proved that the dead person was not guilty. It also violates the persons right to live. It strips the person from its life and removes any type of right they once had. Many governments also seem to favor capital punishment just to save money, how is it possible that we as humans can tolerate the fact that a human life is being compared to a small amount of money that a government will spend on maintaining the individual in prison. Finally if we sentence a criminal to death because he killed someone, what’s the difference between the criminal and us? We would be doing the same thing killing

Capital Punishment in the end is a very relative subject and is clearly a polemic theme since there will always be disagreements. The thin line between when it is correct and when it isn’t is too thin for us to be able to assure that it will be 100% correct and so the subject will always lead to morale doubts and struggles in our minds. Is it correct?
Good Julian,

Seeing that the consumption and importing of junk food wastes a lot of money, the government should step in and limit the amount of money wasted on such manners. Because countries have economical issues and most of the time have shortages of money, seeing that none of it is put to waste would help the country grow strong and create a powerful economy. Because lots money is put to waste with a lot of junk foods consumption and creation, one can imply then that many citizens cannot control their diets appropriately and spend most of their money on the buying of such terrible goods. The government should be concerned on the diets of the people since such is for their benefit and protection, as it helps them to lead into a more stable and healthy way of life. By being healthy, people could ride bikes and create different means of transportation, hence less pollution and less resource consumption. By just one little limitation and point of view into a matter of foods and diet, such would grant a benefit for the country as well, as to the world and people itself.

The government should have no say in the diets of the people. The government must grant rights to the people and hence leave for them to decide. Such, then, implies also the freedom of choice, hence the decisions into what one can eat and consume and what one cannot. The government should be limited to make decisions for the good and happiness of the state, hence focus on political and international events, not the diet of the people. That is up to the person, and although some bad diets cause danger to the health, they bring in a lot of income and money for the government and the economy, so, since such diets are bringing business, jobs, and money for the country, the government should not intervene and not even exert any limits what so ever.
Great Ingrid,
